Most Frequently Asked Questions


Q- How many games/seasons do we play each year?
A
-In the Houston Metro Area, we'll play two 15 game seasons, followed a double elimination post season tournament.  (Min. 17 games per season).  In North Houston, we'll play two 12 game seasons, followed by a double elimination tournament. (Min. 14 games per season) The 1st half goes from March to June, and the 2nd half from July to October. For upcoming league information, please visit our Season Information page. 

Q- Where do we play our games?
A- We play all over Houston, Harris county, and surrounding areas. Field availability varies throughout the calendar year, but we have access to more than 20 of the finest City, County, High School, Private, and College ballparks available to adults in our area. A complete list of ballparks, and area map, are located on our Ballparks page. Directions are found by clicking on the location name on the actual schedule itself.

Q- What days/times are games played?
A- We have games playing 7 days a week, including lighted night games. Weeknight games normally start at 7:30pm. Saturday games are 10am, 1pm, 4pm, or 7pm. Sunday games are 1pm, 4pm, or 7pm. We do not play Sunday mornings. (Weekend game times adjusted during Daylight Savings)

Q- How long are the games?
A- All games are 2:30 (finish the inning), or 9 innings. (Certain rules apply for games called off due to rain after the game has started).

Q- What about tournaments...can I participate?
A- The Houston Hardball League is affiliated with the Men's Senior Baseball League national organization. All registered, participating HHL members will have the opportunity to compete in regional and national tournaments. Regional Tournaments are held in major US cities in many states, including Texas. They are hosted by a variety of local leagues all over the country. The "Texas Cup" is the largest regional tournament held in our area. National Tournaments are held in Arizona, Florida, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, and Puerto Rico. Please visit the Tournaments page for a current schedule available for HHL Members.
 

Q- Does the league provide playing equipment?
A- HHL will provide game balls, but it is up to each player to purchase his own equipment, including gloves, batting helmet, bats, uniforms, and catching equipment.


Q-How much does it cost to participate?
A- League fees will vary from team to team depending on roster size, length of seasons, uniform costs, team supplies and team expenses.  Please go to the Season Information page for more details on each individual playing season.


Q- How do I get on a team?
